After connecting properly, it simply indicated 'error.' I had assumed from some reviews and other notes on the Web that this same model now had a different chip that worked with Subarus--not true. It did not work on my 03 Subaru Forester. But I guess I will have to try an Actron now.Thank you to Amazon for making returns easy. Shame on me. I should have read and believed some of the previous reviewers who had problems using this with their Subaru. Had it worked, this model would have offered so much more for the price over an Actron.
I bought this for my husband to diagnosis codes on a 2001 VW Jetta. It was extremely helpful in finding out what the problem was without spending a huge sum at the local dealership for this service.
Would recommend this unit. Worked with ease right out of the box. Had a "Service Engine Soon" light on in my 1999 GMC Sonoma. Bought this unit after reading the reviews. The reader displayed the problem code, looked the code up, cleared the dashboard light and now all is right with the world.
One bit of advice, buy the extension cable with this. I have a Ford F150 and it was so easy to just sit in the driver's seat and plug this device into the outlet under the dash. Its been a long time since something that was so inexpensive and so easy to use and also saved me money. I completely avoided paying $500-$1000 at the dealership by diagnosing and fixing my own problem with this code reader. I entered the result into Google along with "F150" and it showed the most common reasons for the code, and the fix was a snap.
Bought the code reader, instructions simple and very easy to understand.Read and cleared the code in minutes.and light hasn't come back on again. Definitely worth spending the money as it will save in the long run when you don't have to visit the dealerships or auto repair shops. Bought this code reader after auto repair shops in town told me they would charge me $35+ just to read the code.also whenever I showed up with the car, they were busy and couldn't read the code.they tried once and couldn't read the Volvo code with their reader.Went to the Volvo dealership and they wanted $80 just to read the code. Great buy.
